Riley (left) and Squirrel (right)

What is required of prospective fox owners?

We politely request that you read this website carefully and read through the list of requirements for future fox keepers below before contacting us.

We have a planned pairing between Squirrel our Red Platinum het Silver (AKA Platinum Silver Cross) Vixen and Riley our low expression Red het Silver (AKA Silver cross).

Given that temperament is heavily genetically influenced, this pairing has been chosen with the intention of producing confident, friendly cubs. Both Squirrel and Riley have confident, outgoing temperaments and allow and enjoy physical contact and human interaction. They are highly curious, active, structurally sound and healthy foxes that develop beautifully plush winter coats.

Whilst colour is at the absolute bottom of the list of concerns when it comes to this future litter, this pairing is of two unrelated and genetically compatible animals and should statistically produce a mix of Red, Silver, het Silver (Silver Cross) and Platinum of all three.

As one would expect, there are a set of requirements that anyone wishing to have a KaisWayRidge Fox will need to adhere to in order to be placed on our list.

We will NOT bend on any of these stipulations, irrespective of who you are or how many years of experience you can claim. Welfare is absolutely paramount to us so if we do not manage to line up enough capable homes by early spring, we will simply not be bothering to pair them and all paid deposits will be returned in full.

If you would like to be placed on the waiting list, a £100 deposit which will count as part payment on your fox will secure you a space (provided you also agree and adhere to the below list of terms). We will begin taking deposits towards the end of this year (likely around November but you are welcome to pay earlier should you wish).

100% of your deposit will be refunded should for whatever reason no cubs happen, should there not be enough cubs born for everyone placed on the waiting list or if any problems arise our end that would mean you cannot have a cub as these things are entirely outside of anyone's control.

SHOULD YOU BACK OUT OR NOT HAVE AN APPROPRIATE ENCLOSURE READY BY THE TIME THE CUBS ARE READY TO LEAVE YOU WILL FORFIET YOUR DEPOSIT AND WE WILL NOT BE LETTING YOU TAKE A CUB.

****50% OF YOUR FORFEITED DEPOSIT WILL BE DONATED DIRECTLY TO BLACK FOXES UK****

The balance of your payment will be required on collection or before delivery by a suitably licenced courier. We can recommend a couple of very good, licenced animal couriers should you require one.

Stipulations:

  • YOU MUST HAVE A SUITABLE, SECURE OUTDOOR ENCLOSURE. We can happily advise on all aspects of enclosure design or choosing a suitable premade or custom built kennel and run set up but the enclosure absolutely MUST exist before you can take home a fox and this factor is entirely non-negotiable.
  •  You must have a vet willing to treat foxes
  • You must either own your home or have written consent from the home owner/Landlord of the property confirming that the keeping of foxes will be permitted.
  • You must be over 21 years of age.
  • You must have demonstrable knowledge of the care and rearing of silver foxes and be as aware of the negative aspects of their ownership as you are of the positives.

Ideally (not essential but preferable)

  • You will have first hand experience caring for “exotic” or specialist mammals.
  • You will have previously spent time around other pet foxes and be familiar with the smell and noise associated with them.

We will be putting a lot of time into socialising cubs to handling, noises, other animals, people of all shapes and sixes, veterinary environments, different foods, different surfaces and scents etc and where possible, we will endeavour to match the most suitable cub in the litter to each home based on its temperament and personality. To give these cubs the best start in life, we will be rearing them as closely to Puppy Culture Protocol as is possible with a species that isn't a domestic dog.

You will always have us on hand to offer advice for the whole of your foxes lifetime and should you run into difficulties or find that for whatever reason your circumstances change and you can no longer keep it, we will help you to rehome it or immediately take it back ourselves and either offer or find it a suitable forever home.

All cubs will be vet checked, microchipped, appropriately wormed and treated for external parasites prior to leaving us and will be in good health and eating a varied diet.

Please contact us if you are interested and do feel free to grill us in return!

Trust goes both ways after all so please do feel free to drop us a line and ask any questions you may have. Despite the tone of the above information, we are approachable and friendly. We are just passionate about welfare and as cautious by nature as the foxes we so cherish.
